Alphabet Game: Improv Games From On Stage to Online

With the new era of online improv theatre, it can be tricky translating improv games for the video streaming forum. In this series, learn how to play popular improv games in their original form and how to adapt them for online improv performances and rehearsals.

Alphabet Improv Game

GAME: Alphabet Game

Set up: 2 players playing a scene

How to Play: The host will get a suggestion from the audience. The 2 players must then create a scene, but each sentence must start with the sequential letters of the alphabet. They must continue the scene until all letters have been played.

Example:

Starting line, "Anyway, that's how I ended up in the emergency room with the Rock."

"Bim bam baby! What a crazy thing to happen while doing routine plumbing around the house!"

"Can you believe the Rock was plumbing too?"

"Don't tell me he was also working on his guest bathroom drain pipes."

"Exactly."

"Frickin' cool, man! I wonder what other celebrities are doing the exact same thing as us right now..."

Advanced: Instead of players automatically beginning with the letter A, have an audience member call out a letter for the players to start with.

Play it Online: This game is nice and easy for online play, because it can be done exactly as is!
